Speeding Tickets

author: | posted on: October 17, 2011 4:05 pm This weekend I made the six hour venture from my home in southwest Ohio all the way back to Blacksburg.  I have made this trip multiple times without any problems. Unfortunately, this time I wasn't so lucky. I made the mistake of going 80 in a 60. While I was zooming down interstate 35 I happened upon a cop.  As soon as I saw him I "casually" slammed on my brakes. But let's be honest, he had me.  So, I tried to remain calm and keep a solid pace of 62 while he followed me for another half a mile. What a tease.  Finally, those glorious blue lights where in my rearview mirror. Once I pulled over, he walked up to my window and gave me a delightful stare.  He told me I was doing some serious speeding and that he needed to see my license and registration. Awesome. As I go to hand him my information I look up and see he was accompanied by a sheriff... Just my luck. They walk back to their car after carefully scoping out the back of my trunk.  After five minutes had passed, they returned with small smirks on their faces. The officer looks at me and said that he was going to cut me a huge break, a $200 speeding ticket and 2 points on my license kind of break.  Just a VERBAL warning! He then asked me where I was headed and I told him Virginia Tech.  He gave a VERY approving "hmphh" and told me to slow down.  I don't know if it was my charming personality or the way my hair was casually tousled on top of my head, but I am pretty sure it had a lot to do with the fact that I was a Hokie.  :)
